| Johne Murphy was named Leicester Tigers Player of the Year at the season's final Everards Supporters Evening at Welford Road on Tuesday, May 20 2008.
The Ireland A cap firmly established himself in the first-team reckoning during the 2007/08 season, scoring eight tries in 29 appearances at full-back and wing.
Murphy, who was also nominated in the Young Player and Try of the Season categories, said: “It has been a great year for me. I wanted to play all of the games when the senior guys were away at the World Cup and it has kicked on from there.
“It’s a great honour to collect this award and I’d like to thank all the supporters, they’ve been fantastic all season.”
Tom Croft, who had already collected the Players’ Young Player of the Year award, made it a double with the Supporters’ vote, and Guinness Premiership top try-scorer Tom Varndell picked up the Try of the Year award for one of his hat-trick of tries at Harlequins in January.
Leicester Tigers would like to thank Everards for their backing in staging the Supporters Evenings which proved more popular than ever this season.
