Peter played 349 first-team matches for Leicester Tigers (1969-85) and was club captain for five seasons. He played 41 times for England and in seven Tests in two tours with the British & Irish Lions.
In January 1996 he was appointed Tigers chief executive, having previously been managing director of a leading local company in the insurance industry.
Peter represents the club on the board of Premiership Rugby Limited. He also represents Premiership Rugby Limited on the RFU Professional Game Board. He is Chairman of the RFU's Rugby World Cup 2015 Activation and Legacy Group for the area covering the East Midlands, Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire/ Lincolnshire/ Derbyshire and the Eastern Counties.
