Since October 2010, Leicester Tigers have extended the reach of our delivery to provide further opportunities specifically to independent rugby playing schools. The introduction of our Independent Schools Rugby Development Officer to our already existing team of community coaches, has allowed us to establish, develop and maintain positive relations with independent schools from across the Leicester Tigers Academy catchment area and beyond. This new dimension of community support aims to supplement and compliment each schools rugby programme and teaching curriculum to help individuals achieve their rugby playing potential and learning objectives.

Overseen by the Tigers independent schools rugby development officer, Adam Copperwheat, our independent rugby schools provisions includes a flexible and extensive programme of activities and coaching and rugby development opportunities which include:

• Bespoke training sessions with our CRB Enhanced Disclosure Certificated and RFU Qualified Leicester Tigers coaches
• Strength and conditioning sessions focusing on Long Term Athlete Development
• Classroom-based lessons covering themes such as health, nutrition, & hydration, goal setting & achievement, career pathways in sport, leadership and rugby-specific tactics
• School matchday support; including match analysis, player and team feedback
• Festival support which includes refereeing, administration, coaching, etc
• Pre-season programmes designed and delivered by the Leicester Tigers Community Coaches
• Become a host venue for a Leicester Tigers Rugby Course
• Two free season tickets per school
• Opportunities to take part in other programmes delivered in Leicester Tigers
