Tigers Academy slipped to their first defeat of the season as they went down 14-10 away at the Cornish Pirates on Friday night. The narrow loss was especially frustrating for Tigers as they knew a seven hour bus trip from Penzance to Leicester awaited them at the end of a tough 80 minutes of rugby.
The young Tigers side included a number of 17-year-olds against what ultimately proved to be a strong Pirates U-19 side packed with older lads.
Tigers acquited themselves well in front an enthusiastic and lively Cornish crowd, but they eventually lost out by two tries to one.
Will Lawson was again on the scoresheet for Tigers as he notched his fifth try in four games, while Rickie Aley added a conversion and a penalty.
Tigers
15 Rickie Aley
14 Mitchell Culpin (captain)
13 Jack Cobden
12 Will Lawson
11 Will Hurrell
10 Ben Youngs
9 Sam Harrison
