Croft and England on-song

Tigers forward Tom Croft scored a debut try as England kicked off their challenge for the Emirates Airlines Dubai Sevens with a 38-0 win over Scotland on Friday. Croft was again in the starting line-up for England's second match, as they hammered Zimbabwe 29-0 to remain on course for a third successive Dubai crown.

England ran in six tries against the Scots, with Croft among four first-timers on the scoresheet. James Haskell of Wasps, Nick Abendanon of Bath and Worcester's Marcel Garvey joined Croft in celebrating a try on their first England Sevens appearance. The other two touchdowns came from Sale's Andy Vilk and David Strettle of Northampton. Four conversions from IRB leading points scorer Ben Gollings sealed the win.

As morning sunshine gave way to afternoon drizzle, Sale centre Andy Vilk scored two tries against the Zimbabweans, with other scores coming from Rob Thirlby (Gloucester), Marcel Garvey (Worcester) and David Doherty (London Wasps).
