Premier Rugby Limited have released the following statement regarding player release for the remaining autumn internationals...

Premier Rugby and its Clubs have today indicated to the Rugby Football Union and the England coaching team that they will relax the previously agreed restriction on any individual player not starting more than 3 of the 4 internationals this autumn. This now allows England freedom of selection for the second Test versus South Africa on 25th November.

Premier Rugby Chief Executive, Mark McCafferty said, "It is important that we all get fully behind our England players and coaching team over the coming two weekends. The Clubs want to demonstrate their continued support and help in getting England back to winning performances. The original agreement from the extra New Zealand game was that players should be limited individually on the number of games played this autumn. However, the situation for England has clearly changed and we want to respond quickly and supportively to those needs."

RFU Chief Executive, Francis Baron said, "I'm delighted that PRL has made this offer and it's one we have accepted. It shows the benefits of working together in partnership as both parties want a successful club game and England team."

RFU Elite Rugby Director, Rob Andrew added, "This is a very positive gesture from PRL and one I know that is appreciated by the RFU and by England Head Coach, Andy Robinson OBE and his coaching team. It will help the selection panel decide the test team for the second Investec Challenge test match against South Africa on November 25th and broaden the options from, which they can select the side."
