Andy Farrell will continue his development in rugby union when he lines up for the World XV as they face South Africa on Sunday, December 3 at the Walkers Stadium, Leicester (kick-off 3pm).

The former Great Britain rugby league captain is among a second batch of players who have confirmed their availability for the match which forms part of the Springboks' overseas tours centenary celebrations.

Saracens' Farrell is joined by another league convert in the Australia's Ryan Cross who has been added to the World XV squad. Cross, previously with Sydney Roosters, has just signed for Super-14 outfit Western Force and his switch is one of the Australian Rugby Union's biggest coups since signing Mat Rogers and Lote Tuqiri in 2002.

Bob Dwyer will coach the World XV side and is delighted to be giving Farrell a chance to continue his rugby development.

Dwyer said: "I have spoken to Saracens director of rugby Alan Gaffney and England head coach Andy Robinson about Andy Farrell's inclusion in the side and we will play him in the inside centre position.

"This is a great way for Andy to showcase his talents on the international stage and I'm sure the experience will be of great benefit to him.

"It's exciting to be able to work with both Andy and Ryan who have made a great impact on the international rugby league stage and I'm sure they will make a similar impression on the 15-man game. We are putting together a talented group of players for what will be a fantastic match."

The World XV backline will also include Brent Russell, the 21-times capped South African back. He will be able to showcase his skills against his fellow countrymen just weeks after completing a move from Natal Sharks to Western Province.

Added to the pace of Russell is the power of Italy international Fabio Ongaro. The 40- cap Saracens hooker will be joined by Justin Marshall (Ospreys & New Zealand),  Michael Owen (Newport Gwent Dragons & Wales), Breyton Paulse (Western Province & South Africa) and Morgan Turinui (New South Wales & Australia) who have already been confirmed for the match.

The match against the World XV will be the final fixture on South Africa's autumn tour. It will be the second time that the two teams have come face to face with the Springboks getting the better of the World XV 30-27 in a close-fought match at Ellis Park in June.

Tickets for the match are on sale now from the Tigers ticket office, priced at £35, £30 and £20 (booking fees apply). Contact the Tigers ticket Office on 08701 28 34 30 or go online at www.tigers.co.uk
