Leicester's Geordan Murphy scored a try in Ireland's 21-6 victory over Australia at a rain-lashed Lansdowne Road on Sunday.

After going close in the first half - when he just failed to reach the line - full-back Murphy got on the end of a superb backline move to score on the stroke of half-time as Ireland went into the break with a 15-3 advantage which earned them a standing ovation. Murphy played 77 minutes before giving way to a late run-out for replacement Girvan Dempsey.

Marcos Ayerza completed a memorable double when Argentina followed up victory over England with a 23-16 win over Italy in Rome on Saturday.

Last weekend his team came out on top after his head-to-head duel in the front row with Tigers teammate Julian White and this week it was Martin Castrogiovanni who felt the pain of defeat. Castrogiovanni played 54 minutes for Italy before being replaced by Carlos Nieto, while Ayerza was replaced by Juan Gomez 10 minutes later.

Seru Rabeni and his Pacific Islanders colleagues have arrived in Dublin in preparation for Sunday's game against Ireland. The Islanders lost 34-22 to Scotland at Murrayfield on Saturday, with Rabeni playing the last half-hour after coming off the bench to replace Rupeni Caucau who had scored the visitors' opening try. Caucau has since returned to his club, Agen in France, for personal reasons.
