The squad Key hopes to send to English rugby's HQ includes the likes of Fijian flyer, Seru Rabeni, Samoan powerhouse, Henry Tuilagi and England Sevens international, Dan Hipkiss.
"It's obviously an interesting format this year as there are no external entries," says Key. "Only time will tell whether that's a positive step, but obviously we applaud the aim of trying to help develop younger players."
Tigers have just returned from a pre-season training camp in France, where they faced two games in three days. However, despite the busy schedule ahead of the club's Guinness Premiership opener against Sale on September 3, Key is confident his side can mount a serious title challenge.
"The Middlesex Sevens always comes in the middle of our first team preparations, but we're happy to announce what we hope will be a very competitive squad. I know the players are looking forward to the event, especially as it's at Twickenham. It goes without saying that we would never enter any competition with the intention of just taking part, and this year's Middlesex Sevens will be no exception."
