A Leicester Tigers U-17 side thrashed their counterparts from Ontario in a one-sided encounter at Oval Park on Thursday. The Canadian tourists battled hard throughout, but Tigers had far too much class and eventually ran out victors by 51 points to seven.

The match was the first outing for a Tigers Academy side this season, although many of the established members of the Tigers squad were unavailable due to the U-17 age restrictions.

Instead, it was those players involved with the EPDC system who took centre stage as Tigers got off to a winning start.

Tigers scored nine tries in total, with Will Hurrell grabbing four of his own. The Wyggeston and Queen Elizabeth I student was joined on the scoresheet by Frankie Fenwick-Wilson, Michael Gillick, Chris Everton, Nathaniel Lowers and Lewis Brooks as Tigers showed impressive attacking intent throughout the 80 minutes.

Hurrell also kicked a conversion, while Luke Massey added the extras for two of the tries to ensure Tigers went past the 50-point mark.

Tigers tries:

Nathaniel Lowers
Frankie Fenwick-Wilson
Michael Gillick
Chris Everton
Lewis Brooks
Will Hurrell 4

Conversions:
