There will be six Leicester Tigers players in Martin Johnson's England matchday squad as they kicks off their World Cup campaign against Argentina in Dunedin.

Dan Cole, Tom Croft, Louis Deacon and Manu Tuilagi start the game with Toby Flood and Ben Youngs named on the bench. Their Tigers teammate Horacio Agulla is named on the wing for Argentina.

Mark McCafferty, Premiership Rugby chief executive, said: “Everyone at the clubs wishes the England squad the best of luck as they kick off their Rugby World Cup campaign.

“England go into this tournament with wins against Australia at home and in the southern hemisphere and as Six Nations Champions.

"At club level that was supported by English clubs winning the LV= Cup, the Amlin Challenge Cup and finishing as runners up in the Heineken Cup as well as competing week in, week out in a vibrant and successful domestic club competition.

“Three quarters of the Aviva Premiership Rugby clubs provide players to the England squad and there is a good balance in there of experienced players and young talent. We will now look forward to watching the squad in action on ITV over the coming weeks.”
