Tigers in the Park a hit with fans

Figure image
Thousands of people have been enjoying a fun-packed day of live music, performances and activities at Tigers in the Park.

The free event is being held on Nelson Mandela Park and the plaza at the front of the Caterpillar Stand to mark the start of Leicester Tigers’ Aviva Premiership campaign.

Leicester band Charlie & the Martyrs and singer-songwriter Jack Kenworthy entertained the crowds and X Factor star Laura White was due to headline the event shortly before kick-off at 3pm.

The Army have been demonstrating a mini tank to fans, who have also been able to have a go on their climbing wall. Other attractions include demonstrations by extreme unicyclists Streets United and Bollywood dancers Desi Masti as well as a circus workshop, an inflatable run, a rodeo rugby ball and a bouncy castle.

The Tigers Roadshow Vehicle, known as The Maul, has been running the Speed Pass challenge, Spot the Ball and our interactive Tigers quiz, while the Tigers community team have been holding tag rugby sessions.

And there was a first appearance by Welford, the new Leicester Tigers mascot, who will become a regular face at Tigers home games.

Tigers in the Park runs until 3pm when Tigers kick-off their opening game of the Aviva Premiership season against Exeter Chiefs at Welford Road.
