Stand by for action

YEEEEESSSSS - the new season is here, The Tig is ready for action.

Nothing beats the opening day of the season – other than winning on the last day of the campaign – and with sunshine forecast for the weekend, the world could not be a better place right now.

As if the buzz of seeing the Tigers team return to home soil, with a new kit and new signings in debut action was not enough, The Tig is also down for Tigers In The Park on Saturday.

It's the perfect place to warm up mentally, physically and verbally for the match ahead.

With players missing at the World Cup, and Craig Newby and Jordan Crane among the injured, Tigers are going to need the kind of spirit that has kept them right at the top for so very long, and need it in bucketloads, over the next few weeks.

Every World Cup period throws up another star in the Tigers ranks – remember Ben Kay in 1999 anyone? And from there he went on to play in the next two finals in 2003 and 2007.

Who is it going to be this time? There are plenty of contenders with the likes of Tait, Twelvetrees, Brookes, Waldrom, Allen and Skivington all out to impress. Perhaps, as Cockers says, it is someone who has not even emerged from the shadows yet who just comes in, stands up and does the business.

Whoever it is, The Tig cannot wait. Tiiiiiiigggggerrrrrsssssss!
