Don't forget to join Leicester Tigers for a fun day of tag rugby at Oakham RFC this Saturday.

Tigers community coaches will be at the Showground in Oakham running free tag sessions for children in school years three, four, five and six as part of their Aviva Premiership Rugby Schools Programme.

The event starts at 11am and children in those school years are invited to take part. There will also be a chance for youngsters to sign up to the Junior Tigers Club for free.

The event is the culmination of the Aviva Premiership Rugby Schools Programme, which Tigers coaches have been running in Oakham Schools.

The programme involves Tigers coaches visiting schools and giving a six-week introduction to rugby. Tigers work with teachers to continue with tag rugby once the club’s coaches have left and sets of equipment and teaching resources are distributed.

Tigers are teaming up with Oakham RFC for a fun day on Saturday to encourage young players to continue playing or to take up the sport. The Maul, Tigers' roadshow vehicle, will be there running the Speed Pass Challenge and a Spot the Ball competition as well as the chance for young players to sign up to the Junior Tigers Club for free.

"We would like to thank Oakham RFC for their support, the local club structure is vital to ensure the legacy of the programme,” says Rob Bryant, Tigers rugby development officer.

“Children who are interested in finding out about rugby, their local rugby club and experiencing the game are welcome to come along.

“It will be a fun day of rugby with lots going on and the chance to watch the Oakham first-team game afterwards.”

Tigers coaches are currently taking the Aviva Premiership Rugby Schools to pupils in schools in Leicester and are looking for more city schools to take part.
