Leicester Tigers are joining forces with the Royal British Legion to raise money for the Poppy Appeal.

Tigers’ Aviva Premiership Rugby clash with London Irish at Welford Road on Saturday, November 5 has been nominated for the Poppy Appeal.

The Royal British Legion aims to hit £50 million with this year’s appeal and are making use of Tigers’ Cashback Scheme to raise funds. The Scheme will see Tigers donate £5 to the Poppy Appeal for every ticket sold to the game by the Royal British Legion.

Tigers fans will also be able pick up poppies in return for a donation at the game.

Leicester Tigers chairman Peter Tom CBE said: “Leicester Tigers have long-standing links with the Armed Forces and we are delighted to support the Poppy Appeal at Welford Road.

“I am sure our fans will be generous in their support of the Poppy Appeal, as they always have been in the past.”

Jennifer Leach, Royal British Legion community fundraiser, said: "This year’s Poppy Appeal is all about the Afghanistan and Iraq generation.

“We are aiming to raise £50 million to pay for the Personnel Recovery Centre and the Royal British Legion Battle Back Centre. This is to help seriously injured troops to adapt to sports and adventure training to gain their confidence and help them to adapt back to civilian life.

“We are urging people to buy tickets to the game through the Poppy Appeal Cashback Scheme to help raise vital funds for the Poppy Appeal.”

Tigers host London Irish in Round 8 of Aviva Premiership Rugby at Welford Road on Saturday, November 5. Kick-off is at 3.05pm and tickets are available now.
