Tigers take Rugby Courses to Holland

Jordan Crane hopes that the Tigers Rugby Course held at the British School in the Netherlands can help rugby flourish in Holland.

Tigers coaches held a hugely successful course near The Hague last week with nearly 120 young players from 14 different nations taking part.

It is the second year that Tigers have held a course at the British School in the Netherlands rugby club, who are the current holders of the title of Dutch National Champions across three age groups – minis (under-13), cubs (under-15) and juniors (under-17).

Tigers and England No8 Crane paid a visit to pass on tips and talk about life as a professional rugby player.

“It was great,” says Crane. “The children loved it and they were really getting in to it.

“There were some really promising players who showed a lot of skill, but the main thing was that they all enjoyed it and were really enthusiastic.

“Hopefully they can build on the course and improve their game, and make rugby bigger over there. It’s good for rugby.”

Matt Roper, BSN Rugby Club’s head coach, added: “The Tigers coaching programme offers the boys a taste of the hard work and discipline involved with playing rugby at the top level, as well as all the fun and enjoyment to be gained from playing a sport well.”

With another course pencilled in for next year, the Tigers and the BSN Rugby Club look set to continue working together for the future.
