Tigers on tour - fans arrive in Italy

Figure image
Tigers fans have begun arriving in Italy ahead of the Heineken Cup opener with Aironi Rugby on Saturday.

Among the first fans to set-off for the game in Monza were a coach-load of supporters who left Welford Road shortly after 5pm on Thursday night.

Other supporters were flying out of airports across the UK on Friday including Luton, Stansted, Birmingham and Gatwick heading for destinations including Parma, Verona, Milan Malpensa and Milan Bergamo airports.

And some fans are enjoying breaks in other parts of Italy before joining us for the game in Monza.

Those fans arriving at Parma on Friday were greeted by overcast conditions and mild temperatures. The current forecast for Monza on Saturday is dry with white clouds and a maximum daytime temperature of 10C and minimum night-time temperature of 3C.

The game is a 2.30pm kick-off local time and is being played at the Stadio Brianteo in Monza. It is the first time the 18,000 capacity stadium has hosted Heineken Cup action.

We will be keeping you up-to-date with all of the build-up, the action and the reaction from Italy on the news pages of the club website, on the Leicester Tigers Twitter pages, and on the Official Leicester Tigers Facebook pages.

Keep an eye out for our Jacobs Digital galleries, which we will be updating regularly.

If you are not travelling to the game, you can watch live coverage on the red button on Sky Sports 1 and BBC Radio Leicester will have live on commentary on FM, DAB and online (UK only).

For those lucky enough to be making the trip, email your photos to [email protected] and we will try to use as many as possible in the galleries and in a future matchday programme.

Aironi have organised a Supporters Village before and after the match where Tigers supporters will be able to mix with home supporters and enjoy food and refreshments.
