Try-scorer Niall Morris thanked Leicester Tigers fans for their fantastic support after the 28-12 Heineken Cup victory over Aironi Rugby on Saturday.

Hundreds of supporters made the trip to be at Tigers’ first game of this season’s competition while many more kept in touch with events via television, radio and social media such as Facebook and Twitter.

Morris, who scored the last of Leicester’s three tries against Aironi, said the colour and the noise made by the Tigers fans made it feel they made up half of the 8,151 attendance in the Stadio Brianteo in Monza.

“The supporters who came all the way here were fantastic,” said Morris, who made his Heineken Cup debut on Saturday.

“It felt like almost half of the crowd were Tigers fans and they made a really nig noise. It was great to run out and be greeted by that.

“It’s nice to come here and win with all of those Tigers supporters.”

Attention now switches to the visit to Welford Road this Saturday of Ulster, who beat French giants Clermont at the weekend.

“Ulster are quality,” said the 23-year-old Morris. “They have a lot of Ireland internationals, a couple of South Africans and a lot of young guys who are very talented players.

“They are a serious side and they will be a really tough challenge next week.”

Tickets for the first home game of this season’s Heineken Cup are available now online by clicking here, on the hotline 0844 856 1880 and from the Welford Road ticket office. Tickets are also available from the Tigers store in Market Street in Leicester city centre.
