Christmas treat with Tigers Try Tuesdays

Leicester Tigers supporters kicked off Christmas in the company of a World Cup trio at Welford Road in a special Try Tuesdays evening this week.

Samoan hero Alesana Tuilagi, Argentina wing Horacio Agulla and Italy prop Martin Castrogiovanni were the special guests at the Try Tuesday Christmas Dinner, joining supporters for a festive menu and a chat about their rugby and their Christmas memories at home and at the club.

“In Samoa we enjoy Christmas with all the family together, with a barbeque – and lots and lots of food,” said Alesana. “It was a bit of a shock to come here to have Christmas in the winter!”

Castro talked about the challenges of living so far away from your family, but also the superb relationship he enjoys with the Tigers supporters, while also giving his views on some of the highs of his club career and the developing status of the sport in Italy.

Agulla revealed a love of rock music – and opera – and some of the stories behind the profile of rugby players back home in Argentina.

The players also answered special Christmas cracker questions from supporters after enjoying their meal in the Premiership Suite at Welford Road.

“We have played in so many great places, but the home crowd at Welford Road is something very special,” said Castro looking ahead to Saturday’s Heineken Cup clash with French visitors ASM Clermont Auvergne.

The next Try Tuesdays events is a Tigers Pub Quiz on February 7. Entry is just £5 per person – including a free pint of Everards bitter – with a maximum of eight members per team. Buy your tickets now and pit your wits against a team of Tigers players and a team of Tigers staff on the night. Book now at the Tigers ticket office.
