Motorway travel advice this weekend

As part of roadworks on the M1 Junction 19 Catthorpe Viaduct Replacement Scheme supporters are advised that diversions will be in operation on some sections of the M1 and M6 this weekend.

The M1 Northbound Junction 19 to 20, M1 Southbound Junction 19 to 18 and M6 Southbound to M1 Southbound link will be closed from midnight Friday (January 6) to midday on Sunday (January 8) as the original viaduct is demolished.

Diversions will be in place as follows:

M1 Northbound – traffic will be diverted at Junction 19 on to the M6 to Junction 2 and then north on the M69 to M1 Junction 21.

M1 Southbound – traffic will be signposted off the M1 at Junction 21 on to the M69, A46, A45 and M45 to rejoin the M1 at Junction 17. M1 southbound will remain open all the way down to Junction 19 for A14 esastbound, M6 westbound and local traffic.

M6 Southbound – traffic destined for the M1 southbound will ber diverted at Junction 2 on to the A46, A45 and M45 towards M1 junction 17. The M6 will remain open to M1 Junction 19 for A14 eastbound and local traffic.

A14 Westbound to M1 Northbound – A14 traffic heading M1 northbound will be signposted on to the M6 westbound to Junction 2 and then north on the M6 to M1 Junction 21.
