There's a long way to go, says Youngs

Ben Youngs has warned there is a long way to go in the Aviva Premiership after Leicester Tigers broke into the top four for the first time this season with victory against Sale Sharks.

Tigers moved from 11th to fourth in the Aviva Premiership Rugby table on the back of a six-game unbeaten league run.

The latest result, a 28-23 win over Sale at Welford Road on New Year’s Day, put Tigers into the semi-final spots for the first time this campaign.

Richard Cockerill’s men will be aiming to consolidate that place when they host old rivals London Wasps at Welford Road this Saturday (5pm kick-off)

“Some clubs might be looking at it and be a little bit annoyed because of where we were during the World Cup compared to where we are now,” said Youngs. “Credit to the squad, the management and everyone to get where we are but there is still a long way to go in the season.

“That sums up the competitiveness of the Aviva Premiership. You can be in a position like that, I think Bath did it a couple of years ago, and come back and be right in the mix.

“It’s up to us to keep playing and to concentrate on doing our job.”

Tickets for the clash with London Wasps on Saturday, January 7 (5pm) are still available online by clicking here, on the hotline 0844 856 1880, from the Welford Road ticket office or the Tigers store in Market Street, Leicester.
