More than 5,000 Leicester Tigers supporters have already bought 2012/13 season tickets, with five months of the current campaign still to run.

The best-supported club in the country, Tigers have introduced an interest-free direct debit option on season ticket sales and have been delighted by the level of interest.

The 5,000-mark was topped within six weeks of the 2012/13 season tickets being made available, which is a record for any season at Welford Road.

Tigers executive chairman Peter Tom CBE said: “The club enjoys phenomenal levels of support and the loyalty of our fanbase is a tribute to the players, the staff and the heritage of the club as a whole.

“We thank every one of the supporters who has already taken up the option for next season and look forward to seeing those numbers build again over coming weeks and months.

“The Tigers remain the biggest draw in club rugby, and long may that continue.”

Supporters who signed up before January 1 were able to spread their interest-free direct debit over a full 12-month period, and the interest-free direct debit option remains available with payments now adjusted according to the timeframe.

Tigers have confirmed that current season ticket prices will remain in force on all sales up to March 4.

Ticket sales manager Laura Horne said: “The interest-free direct debit system has allowed us to make season tickets available earlier this year and to allow supporters to spread their expenditure over a longer period, which has proved extremely popular.”

A Tigers season ticket guarantees supporters entry to all home games in the regular season in the Aviva Premiership, Heineken Cup and LV= Cup and this season the package included five games free for every supporter.

Season ticket rates are available for Adults, Over-65, Young Adult/Full-Time Student, Juniors (under 18) and Family. Supporters aged under 10 years are able to claim a free Tigers season ticket when accompanied by a full-paying adult.

There is also an extra ticket office inside the stadium at the Clubhouse End at Saturday's match against Wasps for season ticket queries.
