Leicester Tigers are launching three new education programmes this month with the aim of changing young people's lives.

Tigers are recruiting now for Fit For Work, a sports-driven course aimed at 19 to 24-year-olds. It starts on Monday, January 16 and participants will gain a BTEC Diploma in Sport and Active Leisure (Level 1).

The 20-week course will be run in conjunction with Gemeg and Gateway College in Hamilton.

The aim is to help participants become fitter and healthier while gaining qualifications and developing skills for the workplace to better prepare for the future, whether in further education or employment.

The course is part of our Dynamite Club package of education programmes and will be hosted in the Tigers Education Centre at Welford Road.

A similar course for 16 to 18-year-olds – called A Sporting Chance – will also start on Monday, January 16 with participants gaining extra qualifications while also developing their functional skills.

The third programme is a 10-week Dynamite Club course aimed at 16 to 18-year-olds who are not in education, training or employment (NEET). The next intake starts in the week commencing January 23.

This Dynamite Club NEETs programme is an aspirational, high-profile programme delivered by Tigers Education, targeting young people not in education, employment or training and made possible by the support of Connexions, TNT and the Wooden Spoon Children’s Charity.

Participants gain qualifications including IRB Rugby Ready and OCN Taking Part in Sport as well as Tigers qualifications in Health & Nutrition and Strength & Conditioning.

"These courses are a great opportunity for young adults to join something positive and make a difference to their life," says Andy Harston, Tigers education and inclusion officer.

"We are looking to help anyone who needs a boost or a chance to change their life-path, using sports to generate interest, increase individual health and provide a career path for the future."

If you are interested in taking part or want more information about our Educational programmes, contact Andy Harston by phoning the Tigers hotline on 0844 856 1880.

Tigers Education centre is supported by the Matt Hampson Foundation and the Leicester City Council.
