Semi-final spot up for grabs this weekend

Leicester Tigers and Newcastle Falcons go head to head at Welford Road on Saturday with both sides chasing a spot in the LV= Cup semi-finals.

The format of the Anglo-Welsh knockout competition provides two home games and two away games in the qualifying stages. The clubs in Pool 2, including Tigers, play their fixtures against sides in Pool 3 which comprises Scarlets, Harlequins, Newcastle and Gloucester.

Tigers top Pool 2 with a three-point advantage over London Irish, while Newcastle are in a three-way tussle with Scarlets and Gloucester in their pool, though the Welsh side hold the advantage with a four-point lead.

Bath Rugby are five points clear of Saracens in Pool 1 while Northampton Saints will be looking to hold off Exeter Chiefs and Newport Gwent Dragons in Pool 4 for the remaining place in the knockout stages.

A win for Tigers on Saturday would take them well clear of the rest of the pool and book a semi-final place in the Anglo-Welsh competition for the first time since 2008.

Newcastle, though, got new boss Gary Gold off to a flying start with a comprehensive 37-7 victory over Sale Sharks last Sunday.

Tigers host the Falcons at Welford Road on Saturday (3.00pm) and tickets are available now.

Home games in the pool round matches are included in Tigers season tickets. All other supporters can purchase tickets from the Tigers ticket office now.

You can enjoy a rugby double too, with live coverage of Scotland versus England (5.00pm kick-off) on screens around the stadium and on the big screen in the Final Whistle.
