Club captain Murphy became only the fifth player to reach 25 tries in the Heineken Cup with his scores against Ulster and Aironi during January. Murphy is also Tigers’ record appearance maker in Europe, the game against Aironi was his 72nd in the Heineken Cup.
Slater’s call-up to the England Saxons training squad last week was reward for his form with Tigers. The second-rower has worked hard to establish himself at the club since arriving from Nottingham last season and featured in all Tigers’ Aviva Premiership and Heineken Cup games during January.
Smith, meanwhile, has been a consistent performer in defence and attack. He has has also shown his versatility with performances on the wing and at centre, and his recent form brought with it speculation of a possible call to the England Saxons squad.
The Tigers player of the month award is supported by Goldsmiths, the largest prestige and luxury jewellers in the UK, who are also official East Stand sponsors and official timekeepers.

The winner will be announced at Tigers' LV= Cup clash with Newcastle Falcons at Welford Road this Saturday.
