Captain George Ford and second-row debutant Tom Price played an important role as the Under-20s beat their Scotland counterparts 59-3 in Glasgow.
But there was disappointment for Saxons debutant Ed Slater and club colleague Billy Twelvetrees as they suffered a 35-0 defeat to scotland 'A' in Galashiels.
The Under-20s claimed nine tries at Firhill, shared by Marland Yarde (3), Jack Clifford (2), Charlie Walker (2), Anthony Watson and a penalty try. Man of the match Ford kicked 12 points with six conversions.
Ford said: “It’s great to kick our Six Nations off with a win in Scotland. We knew it wouldn’t be an easy place to come, there are a few cuts and bruises in the changing room but we’re really happy to get the win. It was a real team performance tonight and everyone played their part”
The Saxons suffered only their second defeat in 20 games, with Slater and captain James Gaskell both picking up a yellow card on a tough evening.
Duncan Weir scored a try, three conversions and three penalties in a 20-point personal haul for Scotland ‘A’, Duncan Hogg added a solo try, with Rob Harley and Matt Scott claiming the others late in the game.
