Leicester Tigers stars will help young players improve their game at the first of this year's Leicester Tigers Rugby Courses.

England Saxon George Skivington and Tigers Academy graduate Sam Harrison are due to visit the course at Oakham RFC during February half-term.

Second-rower Skivington and scrum-half Harrison will pass on expert tips, talk about life as a professional rugby player and take part in a question and answer session.

The camp at Oakham RFC runs from Monday to Friday (February 13 to February 17) and there is still time to book a place.

Tigers courses are for players aged nine to 16 taking part in contact rugby. They have a new look for 2012 and have been developed to run even closer to the Tigers Academy and youth rugby programme.

There will be a greater focus on developing skills for match situations and on improving player’s decision-making in game situations.

“The new structure will focus on four key skills – catch and pass, the tackle, the breakdown, and support and evasion,” says Matt Williams, Tigers’ senior rugby development officer.

“The courses focus on all of these skills and will include age-group games for players to put their new skills to the test.

“They will look at how to transfer skills to match and game situations and how to build on their decision-making capabilities.

“We have employed the basis for the courses from the Tigers Academy at Oval Park and the Elite Player Development Group (EPDG) and we will be following the same curriculum as the EPDG.”

Every player who attends the course will receive a free ticket to an allocated Tigers first-team game at Welford Road. They will also receive a Tigers Rugby Course T-shirt, rugby ball and drinks bottle, free membership to the Junior Tigers Club and the Crusha Cru as well as a hot lunch and drinks each day.
