Hooker Harry Thacker, who was part of the Tigers matchday squad for last month’s LV= Cup game away to Harlequins, was joined in the England starting XV by centre Javiah Pohe, while prop Harry Rudkin and centre George Catchpole came off the bench.
England scored two tries through Callum Braley (Hartpury College & Bristol Rugby) and Anthony Watson (St Georges College & London Irish), while Billy Burns (Hartpury College & Gloucester Rugby) kicked two penalties and a conversion.
Head Coach John Fletcher said: “It was a tight game, we felt that we probably did enough to score a couple more tries, but we’re delighted to get the win.
“The game lacked a bit of fluidity in the second half and we seemed to get a bit nervous at time, but it’s our first competitive match together and this win will breed confidence.”
