Lots of positives in victory says Cockerill

Richard Cockerill praised a "good all-round performance" after a six-try victory over Newcastle Falcons kept Leicester Tigers in the top four of the Aviva Premiership standings.

“It was a very dangerous game for us – we needed those points and you can lose if your mindset is not right,” said Tigers director of rugby Cockerill after the 42-15 triumph at Welford Road.

“We played against a very strong wind in the first half and managed it well. The attitude of the team was excellent.

“It was a real focus for us during the week to be up for the battle as much as we were at Saracens last weekend. The guys were very dogged and determined, we scored some good tries and had some real positives out of the game.

“We had a completely new backline out due to the internationals and injuries, so to play as slickly as that was really good.

“The set-piece went well, we did well at the breakdown, the control of the game was good. It was an all-round good day.”

Tigers are now preparing for another big home game, with Gloucester Rugby the visitors to Welford Road this Sunday (1pm). Tickets are available now.
