Steve Mafi says it is a great feeling to win his first piece of silverware with Leicester Tigers after Sunday's LV= Cup victory.

Mafi scored a crucial first-half try in a man-of-the-match performance to help Tigers to a 26-14 over Northampton Saints at Sixways.

“It’s a great feeling,” he said after the final whistle had sounded on an exciting clash. “Going back in the changing room after the match with the LV= Cup was great. The boys were all happy.

“It was really tough. Northampton were attacking from everywhere. Full credit to the boys, we defended how we wanted to and pulled it off.

“I am really happy with the result. Hopefully we can build on that confidence, take it into the Aviva Premiership and finish the season on a high.”
