Birch laps it up at Welford Road

Leicester City legend Alan Birchenall geared up for his annual fund-raising run with a training lap of the Leicester Tigers pitch in a sporting tour of the city this week.

‘The Birch’ has completed a sponsored run on the day of City’s last home game of the season for more than 20 years in aid of various charities and he visited Tigers, as well as the Leicester Riders basketball team, Leicestershire County Cricket Club, Leicester Lions speedway and Leicester’s champion hockey club as he puts the final touches to his training. City’s final home game is against West Ham on Monday evening.

“The run is nearly upon us now so it was great to get around some of Leicester’s great sporting venues for a bit of last-minute training,” Birchenall said.

He is running this year for the LCFC Foxes Foundation’s support of the One In A Million campaign which in turns benefits ten Leicestershire charities. To find out more, see the Leicester City website by clicking here.
