Tigers' Land Rover Cup a roaring success

Leicester Tigers coaches hailed the standard of this season's Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup after hundreds of young players battled it out at Oakham RFC.

Norfolk’s Wymondham landed the under 11s title, beating Market Rasen from Lincolnshire in the final.

Wymondham, who reached the semi-finals of last season’s Prima Tiger Cup, won all five of their Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup fixtures and went through the competition without conceding a try.

In the under 12s competitions, Leicestershire side Market Harborough celebrated success after going through the competition unbeaten before beating Nottingham Boots Corsairs in the final.

Wymondham and Market Harborough will now enjoy a day out at the Aviva Premiership Rugby Final at Twickenham on Saturday, May 26 as reward for their success. The two squads will represent the Tigers region in a “Parade of Champions” at the home of English rugby.

Players Ben Pienaar and Niall Morris watched the tournament, posed for photos and signed autographs while Tigers community coaches took coaching sessions.

“Congratulations to the winners Wymondham and Market Harborough, and to all of the teams that took part,” said Scott Clarke, Tigers community manager.

“It was a really enjoyable day with some great games of rugby played in a fantastic spirit. Hundreds of players, their parents and spectators enjoyed the excellent hospitality of Oakham RFC and some brilliant rugby.”

Following the success of this year’s Land Rover Premiership Rugby Cup, Tigers are offering £20 off a Rugby Course for all players who took part in Sunday’s competition if they book before Monday, April 30. Contact your under-11 or under-12 team coach for details.
