Pacific Nations title for Logo

Logovi'i Mulipola has ended his breakthrough season at Leicester Tigers with victory in Samoa colours at the Pacific Nations Cup.

Tighthead prop Mulipola played in all three games as Samoa lifted their second Pacific title in three years.

They clinched the trophy with a thrilling 27-26 win over host country Japan at Tokyo’s Prince Chichibu Memorial Rugby Ground on Sunday.

Coming from 16-0 down, the Samoans scored 27 unanswered points before having to withstand a late fightback by the hosts.

Mulipola was given a yellow card for a shoulder charge in the 18th minute but returned in time for his team to get back into a game which looked like slipping away.

After weathering the Japan fightback - and seeing the hosts miss a conversion which would have taken them ahead - Samoa captain David Lemi lifted the silverware.
