Tiger Brookes visits summer Rugby Course

Kieran Brookes dropped in on a Rugby Course to talk about life as a player at the Leicester Tigers.

Brookes joined young players on this week’s camp at Trent College in Nottinghamshire, where he took part in a question and answer session and passed on his rugby-playing tips.

“It was excellent,” said Tigers and England Saxon front rower Brookes. “All of the children were having an awesome time, learning new skills and everyone was really enjoying it.

“I took part in rugby courses when I was a young player at Fylde all of the time and really enjoyed them.

“They are really good and really help children improve their skills, especially those that don’t go to rugby-playing schools.

“By working with Tigers coaches for a whole week you can learn a lot and improve your basic skills such as defence and passing.”

Tigers coaches are currently taking camps at Swaffham RFC and Guernsey Rugby Academy, as well as Trent College.

Next week they will be at Diss RFC in Norfolk, Stamford School and Lichfield RFC in Stafforshsire – and there is still time to book a place. Click here or call the community team on 0844 856 1880 to book.

Tigers Rugby Courses are supported by energy efficiency specialists Mark Group, and the packed programme continues throughout the summer.

Tigers will be holding camps right across the Tigers region including at Lutterworth, Kesteven, Market Harborough, Market Rasen & Louth, North Walsham, Jersey, Leamington and Leicester Forest rugby clubs as well as Solihull School.

Tigers will also be running a residential camp at Bishop Burton College for the third successive year, which is due to be attended by the Tigers Academy. A full list of camps is available by clicking here

If you're aged between nine and 16 and playing contact rugby then a Tigers Rugby Course is for you. Receive top-class coaching from former Tigers captain Ian 'Dosser' Smith, double Heineken Cup winner Glenn Gelderbloom and former Tigers hooker Troy Thacker.

The courses run closely to the Tigers Academy and youth rugby programme with a focus on the catch and pass, tackle, breakdown and support and evasion. Every player who attends a course will receive a free ticket to an allocated Tigers first-team game at Welford Road. They will also receive a Tigers Rugby Course T-shirt, rugby ball and drinks bottle, free membership to the Junior Tigers Club and the Crusha Cru as well as a hot lunch (with the exception of the camp at Solihull School) and drinks each day.
