The Scouts' activities included music from two bands
County scouts have plenty to shout about

More than 2,000 Scouts, Cubs, Beavers and Explorer Scouts enjoyed a day out at Welford Road as they watched defending Guinness Premiership champions Leicester Tigers secure a bonus point win over London Wasps.
Representatives of 58 scout groups from across Leicestershire took advantage of Tigers' new Group Bookings Scheme to watch Leicester go top of the Guinness Premiership table with a 34-8 victory.

They made up a sell-out 24,000 crowd for the game between English rugby's two most successful teams and sawTigers secure victory through tries from Lote Tuqiri (2), Johne Murphy and a penalty try.

As well as enjoying the rugby, the Scouts, who are aged between six and 18, braved arctic conditions to encourage children and adults to get involved in scouting.

They organised a series of activities around Welford Road including music from two bands and displays by circus entertainers. The scouts also had their national scout exhibition trailer and five metre boulder wall located outside the new Caterpillar Stand.

Jez Chapman, county activity organiser, said: "The thing about scouting is we get to do a lot of events and activities.

"Having battled through the snow to see the only Guinness Premiership game of the weekend with 2,000 other scouts in freezing conditions, and Tigers won as well, that game was one of things they will remember for a long time."

"It was a fantastic day. We have stamped scouting on the Leicestershire public and hopefully it will strengthen scouting in Leicestershire and nationally."
