Solihull School will be hosting a Tigers Rugby Course next month for aspiring players in the region in the under-9s to under-16 age groups.

After creating strong links as part of the Rugby Playing Schools Programme, the Tigers community team is heading back to Solihull School to provide five days of top-class training in a Tigers Rugby Course.

The course will be based at the schools' outstanding facilities on the week of October 29-November 2.

Young players on a Tigers Rugby Course will receive five full days’ coaching plus a Rugby Course T-shirt, rugby ball and drinks bottle, free membership to the Junior Tigers Club and Crusha Cru, and a match ticket to watch Tigers versus Benetton Treviso in Europe’s Heineken Cup on December 8.

The course is open to all players from across the region. If you are interested in booking your son or daughter on to the course, please phone the Tigers community department on 0844 856 1880 (Option 7) or email [email protected]

The opening Tigers Rugby Course of the new season is based at Leicester Forest RFC in the half-term week beginning October 22. Places are still available and bookings are being taken now.

Matt Williams, senior rugby development officer at Tigers, is looking forward to encouraging new rugby talent and getting the best out of the young players in attendance.

He says: “These are always excellent weeks and the players get so much out of them.”

The framework of the course is taken from the Tigers Academy training programme and the curriculum is based on the work of the Elite Player Development Group, which helps any young player wanting to improve their skills.

Tigers Rugby Courses are supported by energy efficiency experts Mark Group and focus on the core skills of passing, tackling, the breakdown, and support and evasion. Players will also be coached on how to transfer skills to match situations and build on their decision-making abilities.
