Tigers back in black for Euro quest

Figure image
Leicester Tigers will be back in black in a new European playing kit this season.

The Canterbury-branded kit includes tiger-style artwork, similar in design to the 2012/13 home and alternate kits, but in the black colours adopted by the club at its inauguration more than 130 years ago. The European kit also has black shorts and black socks.

Pre-orders for the new jerseys are being taken at Tigers Club Stores from today. The jerseys will be in stock in Tigers Club Stores from October 10, four days before Tigers begin their Heineken Cup campaign.

The European kit will be worn by the players for the first time in the game against Ospreys in the second round of this season’s Heineken Cup at Welford Road on Sunday, October 21.

The black and carbon kit will be worn for the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons.

Black was adopted as the club playing colours at its foundation in 1880 before red, white and green became synonymous with the Tigers.

A black match jersey has been worn occasionally since, most recently in the 125th anniversary year in 2005. Black was last worn in Europe by the Tigers squad captained by Martin Johnson in 2004/05.

The European jersey will be available from Tigers Club Stores at Welford Road and in Market Street, Leicester, and from the club’s online store www.leicestertigersstore.com

Wear the same as your heroes with the genuine Test jersey, which comes complete with all of the quality and features of a player’s jersey including advances in Temex fabric providing improved sweat evaporation, and a tight-fit design.
