Leicester Tigers Academy have been helping England prepare for the QBE Internationals.

The Tigers Academy provided training-ground opposition for the Red Rose as Head Coach Stuart Lancaster plans for the upcoming Twickenham games against Fiji, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.

Tigers Academy manager Neil McCarthy said: “We know Stuart Lancaster through his role as Head of Elite Player Development at the RFU. He contacted us and asked if we would take an Academy side to St George’s Park to play a controlled game against the England squad.

“He was looking to get certain elements out of the training. From their perspective it’s quite difficult when you have your own players to play against because everyone knows what you are trying to achieve.

“As a learning experience, it was absolutely fantastic for the lads. And Stuart Lancaster and the England squad were brilliant with our lads. They made them feel welcome and Stuart gave them a bit of a pep talk beforehand, which was really good.”
