'Twickenham Test will be a dream come true'

Vereniki Goneva says it will be a dream come true to run out at Twickenham for Fiji against England on Saturday (kick-off 2.15pm).

Goneva, who has made a huge impact at Welford Road since his arrival in the summer, has been named at centre in the Fiji team for the first QBE International of the autumn.

The 28-year-old will face Tigers team-mates Dan Cole, Toby Flood, Geoff Parling, Manu Tuilagi, Thomas Waldrom and Tom Youngs, who all start for England, while Ben Youngs is on the bench.

“I am really looking forward to it because I know I will play against some of my team-mates from Leicester, people like Floody and Manu, so I am really excited about it,” says Goneva, who was voted by Tigers fans their Goldsmiths Player of the Month for September.

“It’s nice because we know each other, but it is a game you want to win and you have to go out there and play.

“I have not played 15-a-side at Twickenham before, only sevens in the World Series with Fiji. I think it will be a lot different playing a 15-a-side Test match with a big crowd as well.

“I love playing for my country. England are a big team. For me, to play for my country against England for the first time at Twickenham, it will fulfil a dream.”

Waldrom, meanwhile, has warned England to make sure Goneva is not allowed any space at Twickenham.
