Young rugby players from Tamworth and Leek will have their chance to play at Welford Road after qualifying for the knockout stages of this season's Prima Tiger Cup.

The under-10s teams from the two clubs qualified from the last of four regional festivals held at Stoke RFC on Sunday.

They join teams from Kenilworth, Market Harborough, Silhillians, Syston, Market Bosworth, Paviors, Stamford, Wisbech, Wymondham and Newmarket who qualified from their festivals at Swaffham, Mellish and Lutterworth rugby clubs.

The Prima Tiger Cup is an under-10s contact tournament, supported by Loughborough-based Prima Solutions.

Organised by Tigers, it is held annually with under-10s teams from across the country competing for the chance to play at Welford Road.

“It has been a great start to this season’s Prima Tiger Cup and Swaffham, Mellish, Lutterworth and Stoke have been fantastic hosts,” said Scott Clarke, Tigers community manager.

“The games have been very competitive and played in a great spirit. Congratulations to all of the teams who have taken part, and to the clubs who will be joining us at Welford Road for the knockout stages.”

The first games will be played before Tigers host Bath Rugby in the Aviva Premiership on Saturday, December 1 (kick-off 12.30pm).
