Vote for December's Player of the Month

Anthony Allen, Mathew Tait and Tom Youngs are on the three-man shortlist for the Goldsmiths Player of the Month award for December.

All three have played a huge part in helping to take Tigers to top spot in Heineken Cup Pool 2 and in the club’s push for Aviva Premiership success.

Allen came back from a nasty-looking injury in the Aviva Premiership clash with Bath Rugby at Welford Road on December 1 to feature in the gutsy European win in Treviso. Allen was twice involved in the sweeping try for Adam Thompstone that helped Tigers to a crucial victory.

Tait has had a big impact on the side since making his return from injury and has started every game so far in December, including the back-to-back Heineken Cup wins over Treviso. Operating at full-back, he was pivotal in Thompstone’s length-of-the-field score in Italy.

December began with a bang for Youngs, when he was part of the England team that recorded a historic win over New Zealand at Twickenham. He was then an integral part of the set-piece which earned penalty tries against Treviso home and away, including the match-winning score late on in the Stadio di Monigo.

They will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Vereniki Goneva and Toby Flood, as well as Adam Thompstone, the Goldsmiths Player of the Month for November.

Thompstone said: “It was a big surprise to win it and great to be voted by the supporters. I got a nice Tag Heuer watch, which is great, particularly at this time of year.”
