Tigers ready for another tough trip

Club captain Geordan Murphy says Leicester Tigers are braced for "a traditionally tough" trip to Worcester Warriors this evening.

Tigers sit in third place in the Aviva Premiership table after 12 rounds as they go to Sixways for an evening fixture in front of the ESPN TV cameras.

Murphy played a full part in the 17-12 victory over Gloucester last Saturday and sits out against Warriors, but knows from experience what lies in store at Sixways.

“Worcester have improved and signed well. Andy Goode has been playing some good rugby at 10, they’ve got some good players and they’re very strong at home,” he said.

“We’ve traditionally had tough games down there and we know it’ll be tough.”

Reflecting on a vital victory over Gloucester in front of a 24,000 full house at Welford Road in the final game of 2012, Murphy said: “We set ourselves a goal at the start of the month that we wanted to get some wins and a little bit of form going into a tough away fixture at Worcester and then two weeks of Europe.

“It was tough, but it was important for us to grind it out and it took a lot of character in the last 30 seconds to defend our line.

“We can still get a lot better, but four points on days like this can sometimes be key.”
