Crane expects a Welford Road classic

Jordan Crane says the sold-out Heineken Cup clash with Toulouse promises to be another unforgettable Welford Road occasion.

Tigers’ 15-15 draw at Ospreys last weekend set up a winner-takes-all clash with Toulouse, the four-time European champions, this Sunday (kick off 3pm).

With all 24,000 tickets sold out days in advance of the game and a knockout edge to the game, it evokes memories of previous Welford Road classics against Toulouse in 1997, Perpignan in 2004 and Stade Francais in 2007.

“You can’t ask for anything better than a sell-out at Welford Road and the chance to go through to a Heineken Cup quarter-final,” says Crane.

“It’s going to be special and one of those Heineken Cup occasions that you probably won’t forget.

“We can’t wait. If you had given us this opportunity at the start of the group stages we would have taken it – in our own hands at Welford Road and I think with the fans behind us we have got every chance of going through.”
