Toulon’s Stade Felix Mayol home has a capacity of 14,700 which is less than the 15,000 preferred by tournament organisers European Rugby Cup Ltd for the knockout stages of the competition.
The club have applied for permission to add extra capacity in time for the visit of Tigers and this proposal is due to be heard by the city’s safety committee on Thursday, February 7.
Toulon have been asked to confirm to ERC by February 8 that Stade Felix Mayol can reach the required quarter-final capacity of 15,000 or alternatively will be required to nominate a different venue.
A statement on the club's website says that at this stage the alternative stadium, if needed, could be in Nimes or Avignon.
Tigers will publish tickets and travel details for supporters as soon as a venue is confirmed.
ERC have announced today that Twickenham Stadium will host the quarter-final between Saracens and Ulster Rugby. ASM Clermont Auvergne host Montpelier, and Harlequins are at home to Munster in the other quarter-finals on the weekend of April 6/7.
