Organisers of a competition to find the next generation of rugby writers have praised the standard of entries.

Sam Durham, 15, won the LV= Young Reporter Competition after writing a match report on Bath Rugby’s 32-5 win over Gloucester Rugby at Kingsholm in the Anglo-Welsh cup competition.

Sam, 15, a Gloucester fan, wins four VIP tickets to the LV= Cup Final at Sixways on Sunday, March 17, and the chance to interview Tigers legend and LV= Ambassador Lewis Moody, which will be played on the big screen at half time. He will also be invited to attend the post-match press conference and to write a match report of the game which will be published on the RFU, Premiership Rugby and LV= websites.

The runners-up were Tim Rutland, 14, a Harlequins fan, and Issy Ronald, 13, who supports London Irish, who receive four tickets each to the final.

“This award embraces the spirit of the LV= Cup as it is all about celebrating young talent and it’s great to see how much the tournament means to so many young rugby fans,” said Claire Jeromson, LV= head of sponsorship. “The standard of entries was incredibly high.”
