Kenilworth U10s are this season's Prima Tiger Cup champions after beating Wymondham U10s in Saturday's final at Welford Road.

Cheered on by hundreds of supporters, Kenilworth from Warwickshire and Norfolk’s Wymondham produced a thrilling final at the world-famous home of Leicester Tigers.

And it was Kenilworth who took the title with a 3-1 victory. Their head coach Peter Cox said: “It has been a brilliant team effort. Everyone played their hearts out.

“Wymondham were excellent and it was a really good final.”

Scott Clarke, Tigers community manager, said: “The skills, commitment and sportsmanship was a credit to both clubs and they should be congratulated on producing such an excellent final.”

Newmarket U10s from Suffolk landed the Prima Tiger Bowl after a 3-2 victory over Staffordshire’s Tamworth U10s.

The teams stayed behind to watch Tigers’ Aviva Premiership clash with Saracens. They took part in a half-time lap of honour and had their photos taken on the Welford Road pitch with Anthony Allen.

Now in its 19th year, the Prima Tiger Cup is an under-10s contact tournament which is supported by Loughborough-based Prima Solutions. It began with a series of regional festivals in the autumn with more than 50 teams taking part.
