Craig Newby will return to Welford Road later this year to run a breakdown and contact skills masterclass, one of a series of specialist Leicester Tigers coaching days.

Newby, the Tigers favourite who retired from rugby at the start of the season, will lead a day of specialist coaching at Welford Road aimed at improving the games of players aged U11 to U16.

Former All Blacks international Newby made 84 appearances for Tigers, was part of the 2010 Premiership winning squad and captained Leicester at the 2011 Aviva Premiership Final. He was also part of the Tigers coaching team that took our first-ever Rugby Camp into Asia with a course at the Royal Selangor Club in Kuala Lumpur and is now head coach at Cambridge RUFC.

He will lead the day-long masterclass on Wednesday, May 29, one of three Welford Road Masterclasses during the summer half-term.

On Tuesday, May 28 the home of Leicester Tigers will host a unit skills special which will have a set-piece focus for the forwards and will concentrate on the principles of attack for the backs.

And there will be a kicking masterclass at Welford Road on Thursday, May 30. It will cover all forms of kicking, from place kicking to kicking out of hand, from the grubber kick to drop-kicking.

Welford Road Masterclasses are for players in U11s to U16s age groups and are an excellent opportunity to learn and develop position-specific skills.

Players attending a masterclass will receive a free junior ticket to an allocated first-team game at Welford Road next season as well as lunch on the day, a Rugby Camp T-shirt, a water bottle, a rugby ball and free membership to the Junior Tigers Club.
