Leicester Tigers are helping to promote investment and development opportunities in Leicestershire at an international fair in France this week.

Tigers executive director Peter Wheeler is joining a delegation at MIPIM 2013 in Cannes, promoting the region’s major development opportunities, showcasing the Enterprise Zone at MIRA and helping to raise the profile of Leicester and Leicestershire internationally.

The team also includes Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership chair Andrew Bacon, Leicester City Mayor Sir Peter Soulsby and Councillor Nick Rushton, Leader of Leicestershire County Council.

Wheeler said: “Leicester and Leicestershire are at the heart of an important region in the centre of the UK and home to some major commercial brands and well-known names, including the Leicester Tigers.

“The Tigers enjoy very strong relationships with our own commercial partners, many of whom are market leaders in their own field. We also have the biggest support of any rugby club in the UK and a consistent record of success which makes the Tigers name is known throughout the sporting world.

“Our aim in joining Team Leicester at MIPIM 2013 is to showcase the development opportunities in Leicester and Leicestershire which would allow this region playing an even greater role in the country’s economic future.”

MIPIM 2013 is hosted at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes in the south of France, from March 12-15, and features nearly 20,000 delegates and 2,000 exhibitors as well as key-note conferences and networking opportunities.

Andrew Bacon said: “MIPIM brings together the most influential players from all international property sectors and offers unrivalled access to the greatest number of development projects and sources of capital worldwide.

“It’s great for Team Leicester to have the support of a brand like Leicester Tigers which is renowned all over the world. This will attract attention and help us to sell Leicester and Leicestershire’s proposition.”
