Former Leicester Tigers and Ireland fly-half Jeremy Staunton will return to Welford Road to run a kicking masterclass.

Staunton will lead a day of specialist coaching at the home of Tigers on Thursday, May 30 aimed at improving the games of players in the under-11 to under-16 age groups.

Staunton won five Ireland caps, was a member of Tigers Premiership-winning squad in 2010 and played in the 2011 Premiership Final as well. He scored 345 points in 54 appearances for Tigers.

The former Munster, Harlequins, London Wasps and London Irish player scored 23 points in a Wasps victory at Welford Road in 2008/09, a record for any opposition player in a league match at the venue. He also collected a Powergen Cup winner’s medal with Wasps in 2006.

His masterclass will cover all forms of kicking, from place kicking to kicking out of hand, from the grubber kick to drop-kicking.

It will follow a breakdown and contact skills masterclass with former Tigers and All Blacks back rower Craig Newby on May 29 and a unit skills masterclass on May 28, which will have a set-piece focus for the forwards and will concentrate on the principles of attack for the backs.

Welford Road Masterclasses are for players in U11s to U16s age groups and are an excellent opportunity to learn and develop position-specific skills.

Players attending a masterclass will receive a free junior ticket to an allocated first-team game at Welford Road next season as well as lunch on the day, a Rugby Camp T-shirt, a water bottle, a rugby ball and free membership to the Junior Tigers Club.

Places are filling up fast and players are encouraged to book now to avoid disappointment. Book now online by clicking here or contact the Tigers ticket office on 0844 856 1880 (option 2).
