Matchday in Toulon

Figure image
The sun is shining in Toulon and Leicester Tigers fans are out in force for the Heineken Cup quarter-final at Stade Felix Mayol.

The persistent rain of Saturday was replaced by bright sunshine and warm temperatures for matchday.

Around 1,500 Tigers fans have made the journey to the south of France and hundreds joined Toulon supporters at the Rugby Club Toulonnais Village in Place Besange for refreshments and entertainment while others wandered around the port area and the Sunday market.

A live band kept supporters in the fan village entertained and brought a taste of Welford Road to the Cote d’Azur with their version of Smoke on the Water before live coverage of the day’s first quarter-final between Harlequins and Munster was broadcast on the big screen.

There was entertainment for children with a bouncy castle, a bungee run and face painting.

Kick-off in the big game is at 5.30pm local time, 4.30pm UK time. Tigers will wear their black and carbon European kit.

The game is live on Sky Sports 2 and BBC Radio Leicester will have live commentary. The game will be broadcast across the rugby world and with stellar names on both sides interest is bound to be global.

Welford Road is opening its doors to Tigers fans with live coverage of the game on the big screen in Final Whistle in the Caterpillar Stand. Admission is free and the bar will be open.
